Description

Podiatrists diagnose and treat conditions affecting the foot, ankle, and lower legs, including both medical and surgical care. This role involves patient assessment, performing procedures, prescribing pain relief and orthoses to support mobility, ordering diagnostic tests when needed, and educating patients on foot care and overall wellness.

Responsibilities

• Examine patients’ legs to diagnose diseases

• Perform foot and ankle surgeries (e.g., removing bone spurs)

• Treat sport-related foot and leg injuries, including fractures

• Use podiatric techniques such as casting and laser therapy to treat deformities and ailments

• Prescribe joint pain relief medication and foot orthoses to improve mobility

• Review patients’ medical history

• Advise patients on foot care and general wellness practices

• Order additional medical tests when necessary (e.g., X-rays, ultrasounds, bone density tests)

Requirements

• Experience as a Podiatrist

• Excellent knowledge of therapeutic and surgical treatments for the lower extremities

• Familiarity with all types of foot problems, including genetic abnormalities and deformities

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate well with children and elderly patients

• Empathy and patience when dealing with serious diseases

• Up-to-date with the latest technologies and treatments in podiatry

• Doctoral degree in Podiatric Medicine
