Quick Facts

  • Role: DevOps Engineer (OpenShift & Kubernetes)

  • Model: B2B

  • Work style: 100% Remote

  • Start: ASAP

Description

A major bank is migrating securities processing from an old mainframe to a modern, cloud-native OpenShift setup. You will configure target environments, secure network connections (mTLS/PKI, secrets, OIDC), deploy services via Helm and GitOps pipelines, and ensure applications communicate reliably with Kafka and backend databases (Oracle/DB2).

Responsibilities

  • Shape target environments by tailoring OpenShift namespaces and configuring ingress/routing and environment configurations for test and production.

  • Handle network and security by validating firewall matrices and establishing resilient encrypted connections between Spring Boot services, Kafka, and relational databases.

  • Automate and orchestrate deployments by parameterizing Helm releases with environment-specific values, implementing GitOps release pipelines, and designing failsafe upgrade and rollback paths.

  • Document production readiness through runbooks, connectivity sheets, and deployment guides for the live cutover.

  • Collaborate with database administrators, mainframe developers, and security architects to resolve integration blockers and align identity/access configurations (OIDC).

Requirements

  • Track record managing workloads on Red Hat OpenShift in tightly regulated, enterprise-grade ecosystems.

  • Thorough understanding of Helm architecture and GitOps patterns, including environment branching and automated release rollbacks.

  • Practical expertise with secrets management, PKI, certificate distribution, and mutual TLS.

  • Hands-on experience debugging connectivity between containerized Java apps, Apache Kafka, and Oracle/DB2 databases.

  • Ability to work independently and use English daily.

Benefits

  • Full-time through 2026, then part-time/advisory in 2027.

  • Work on a high-impact banking modernization from mainframe to cloud-native infrastructure.

  • 100% remote role focused on practical deployment, security, and integration work.
