Description

Configure, administer, and maintain F5 BIG-IP load balancing infrastructure in production, including HA failover, health monitoring, and SSL offloading. Support incidents and major incidents (2nd/3rd line), handle change/emergency changes, and contribute to root cause analysis and problem management. Work with monitoring (CheckMK), security alerting (Splunk), and vulnerability management.

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain F5 BIG-IP load balancing components (LTM, DNS, AFM)
• Operate production (RUN) lifecycle: deploy, manage changes/updates, retire infrastructure
• Manage Virtual Servers, Pools, iRules, SSL offloading, and certificates
• Manage BIG-IP software/device lifecycle: TMOS updates, firmware, and licenses
• Troubleshoot application delivery and load balancing issues: persistence, health monitors, HA failover
• Handle 2nd/3rd line incidents and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
• Participate in Major Incidents: bridge calls, collect diagnostics, implement Emergency Changes
• Plan maintenance and changes during service windows (including nights/weekends)
• Attend weekly Change Advisory Board (CAB)
• Coordinate Problem Management; document Known Errors and define Workarounds
• Configure and optimize monitoring in CheckMK (alert thresholds, reduce false alarms, correlate events)
• Monitor service/infrastructure availability and analyze Uptime/MTBF/MTTR
• Analyze logs and security events; collaborate with Security and address Splunk-identified alerts
• Monitor capacity and performance (bandwidth, ports, CPU/memory)
• Manage security vulnerabilities: analyze CVEs, assess patches, coordinate remediation
• Support security incident handling with Information Security specialists
• Maintain CMDB documentation (IP, VLAN, VRF, devices and related infrastructure)
• Support license lifecycle and infrastructure resource lifecycle (purchase to retirement)
• Support internal/external audits; prepare documentation and track remediation actions
• Identify opportunities for optimization/automation and participate in Continual Service Improvement (CSI)
• Handle Service Requests and Standard Changes according to ITIL
• Create/update operational documentation, technical instructions, configuration standards, and maintenance procedures
• Collaborate with international teams and support knowledge transfer

Requirements

• Several years of practical experience administering and maintaining F5 BIG-IP environments in high-availability data center settings
• Strong knowledge of F5 BIG-IP, especially LTM and DNS, iRules, and TMOS
• Knowledge of F5 BIG-IP AFM
• Hands-on configuration of Virtual Servers, Pools, SSL Offloading, Persistence Profiles, and Health Monitors
• Experience with High Availability (HA) including failover configuration and diagnostics
• F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator (F5-CA) or equivalent certification
• Experience supporting production infrastructure and 2nd/3rd level technical support
• Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Release, Knowledge, Configuration Management)
• Knowledge of Event, Availability, and Capacity Management concepts
• Experience managing changes, updates, and the F5 infrastructure lifecycle
• Knowledge of infrastructure security topics, vulnerability management, and Security Incident handling
• Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues and participate in Major Incident response
• Availability for rotational 24/7 on-call including nights, weekends, and holidays
