Description

You will join the Marketing Automation team within a Customer API platform in the Communication domain. You will design, build, and operate event-driven microservices and data pipelines on Azure that enable personalized marketing experiences across channels. The role includes leading architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and shaping engineering standards with full DevOps ownership from commit to production.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of platform capabilities and customer-facing integrations
• Drive architectural decisions for event-driven microservices and document trade-offs as ADRs
• Build and maintain high-performance microservices integrating customer data with external marketing platforms
• Develop event-driven solutions on Azure Service Bus and Azure Event Hubs to process high-volume data streams at scale
• Build gateway services using patterns such as gateway, outbox, and idempotent processing
• Define and implement test strategies (unit, integration, functional, regression)
• Champion CI/CD best practices using Azure DevOps pipelines
• Maintain high-quality documentation (runbooks, API specs, system design documents, operational guides)
• Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and shape the team’s engineering culture
• Use infrastructure as code with Terraform and Helm; deploy services to Kubernetes on Azure (AKS)
• Collaborate with platform and security teams to design secure, resilient services
• Write secure code and follow DevSecOps practices
• Ensure observability using New Relic APM with meaningful alerts and own operational health
• Evaluate and advocate for new technologies; leverage AI coding tools and automate workflows

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production Java applications
• Strong command of Java 25 (records, sealed classes, virtual threads, pattern matching)
• Solid Spring Boot experience (dependency injection, REST, data access, testing)
• Ability to design simpler, maintainable solutions for complex business needs
• Clean, maintainable, well-tested code with best practices in design and deployment
• Hands-on event-driven architecture and messaging experience (Azure Service Bus/Azure Event Hubs or equivalent such as RabbitMQ/Kafka)
• Cloud experience (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP valued)
• Relational database experience (PostgreSQL or equivalent) including schema design, query optimization, and migrations (Flyway or Liquibase)
• Test strategy experience (unit, integration, regression) including defining the approach
• Ability to own and lead technical delivery (architectural decisions, stakeholder coordination, cross-team collaboration)
• Agile experience (Scrum or Kanban)
• Strong written and verbal English communication
