Quick Facts

  • Role: Software Architect (Staff Engineer / hands-on Architect)

  • Focus: Ultra-reliable 911 / Emergency Call Handling platform (event-driven, real-time telecom systems)

  • Model: Hybrid/remote with flexible working hours

Description

You will help extend a mission-critical, five-nines (99.999%) emergency call handling platform designed for zero planned downtime and resilience to regional outages and traffic spikes. As an active, code-fluent technical leader, you will shape architectural decisions, mentor senior engineers, and drive a DevOps “you build it, you run it” culture across cross-functional teams. The work covers end-to-end development—from design and implementation to testing, delivery, and 24/7 maintenance—for low-latency call routing, media processing, and mission-critical signaling.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end technical direction for high-throughput, low-latency call routing, media processing, and mission-critical signaling engines

  • Lead ambiguous, mission-critical initiatives through concrete architectural milestones and cross-team execution

  • Design resilient distributed architectures across hybrid-cloud environments with self-healing mechanics, zero-downtime deployments, and rigorous fault isolation

  • Champion telemetry-first practices across CI/CD, container orchestration, distributed tracing, and automated chaos/failover testing

  • Author Architectural Decision Records (ADRs), run high-impact code/design reviews, and eliminate technical debt

  • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers to improve system design, craftsmanship, and operational maturity

  • Translate architecture roadmaps and technical debt into business value for executive leadership

Requirements

  • 8–10+ years of software engineering experience leading complex, multi-system initiatives from architecture through deployment

  • Deep, hands-on production expertise in modern Java (e.g., Spring Boot or Quarkus)

  • UI technology knowledge (TypeScript/Angular) to guide holistic platform and API design

  • Thorough distributed systems knowledge: concurrency, asynchronous messaging, event-driven design, data consistency models, microservices patterns, and resilient interfaces

  • Hands-on cloud and container-native experience: Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS/Azure/OpenShift

  • DevOps and observability mindset with infrastructure as code, automated testing pipelines, and tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and ELK

  • Ability to assess trade-offs and make decisions under incomplete information

  • Fluent English (written and spoken)

Benefits

  • Private medical coverage and Multisport

  • Life insurance (two annual income)

  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan with a discount

  • Employee Pension Plan (3.5% of monthly gross salary)

  • IP Tax Relief

  • Yearly salary increase (performance-based) and yearly bonus (company performance-based)

  • Flexible working hours (typically 7–10 start) and an 8-hour workday with a 30-minute lunch break

  • Hybrid/remote work
