Description

Own solution architecture for Java services across Studio and Mosaic. You will define service boundaries and contracts (API/event), persistence, identity, integration patterns, canonical content/taxonomy models, publishing and transformation pipelines, and end-to-end observability—working close enough to code to make the designs real in Micronaut services. The role also covers AI-assisted drafting/tagging/enrichment and secure identity/entitlement integration for learner access.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture across authoring, governance, transformation, packaging, and delivery

• Define service boundaries and contracts for Studio and Mosaic (including assembler/resolver, LMS integration, content delivery, identity, and progress/learning-record services)

• Design stable canonical content models for modular lessons, topics, assessments, and media across Java APIs and React experiences

• Architect taxonomy/ontology services to keep classification consistent across authoring, search, and delivery

• Design workflows for approvals, versioning, quality gates, lineage, and audit trails

• Define standards-based transformation/packaging across XML, JSON, BITS, QTI, XLIFF, SCORM, xAPI, LTI, PDF, and ePub

• Lead integration architecture across component CMS, taxonomy, translation management, search, publishing, and learner channels (Canvas/Brightspace)

• Define AI-assisted drafting, tagging, enrichment, semantic search, and recommendations, including how Java services call/govern these capabilities

• Establish human review checkpoints and traceability for AI-generated content (attribution, prompt/model versioning)

• Design identity and entitlement integration (Entra ID workforce SSO, Kong BFF, JWT validation, LTI 1.3 federation, roles/paywalls)

• Shape AWS runtime architecture (Aurora PostgreSQL, S3/CloudFront, secrets, container deployment)

• Ensure end-to-end observability (OpenTelemetry, correlated logs/metrics)

• Set engineering standards for OpenAPI, persistence (JPA + schema migrations), error semantics, and testability

Requirements

• 8+ years in solution/content/information/enterprise architecture with substantial experience shipping Java services

• Production experience with Micronaut or Spring, Gradle or Maven, REST, and OpenAPI

• Experience with structured component CMS and component-level content models

• Experience with taxonomy and ontology platforms exposed via APIs

• Experience with translation workflows (translation memory, glossaries, XLIFF)

• Knowledge of search/discovery architecture (semantic search and recommendations)

• Experience with publishing and transformation pipelines

• Familiarity with learning delivery standards/channels: LTI 1.3, SCORM, xAPI, Canvas, Brightspace

• Experience with API/event/workflow and file-ingest architectures

• Strong AWS architecture experience (relational DB, object storage, CDN, secrets, container platforms)

• Experience with gateway/session architecture and identity integration (OIDC/JWT, SSO/federation) and secure access patterns

• Familiarity with React front ends consuming Java services

• Experience integrating CKEditor with content models
