Description

You will implement MCP protocol servers and clients, including tools/list and tools/call handling, and design agent tool integrations for an enterprise agent development platform. The role involves building async HTTP services with streaming transport, registering MCP target types (such as AWS Lambda as tools and OpenAPI-to-MCP translation), and enforcing consistent tool metadata practices (schema registration, capability tagging, versioning).

Responsibilities

• Implement MCP protocol servers and clients, including tools/list and tools/call handling
• Design and maintain agent tool integrations using function calling, tool schema definition, and parameter validation
• Build and register MCP target types such as Lambda functions as tools, remote MCP servers, and OpenAPI-to-MCP translation
• Develop async HTTP services and streaming responses for MCP server/client communication
• Manage tool metadata, including schema registration, capability tagging, and versioning
• Handle capability negotiation and Streamable HTTP transport within the MCP protocol
• Collaborate with engineering teams to standardize agent tool integration patterns across the platform
• Support AWS AgentCore Gateway target registration for agent tool connectivity

Requirements

• 5+ years of Python engineering experience with agent/AI systems
• Hands-on experience implementing MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers or clients in a production agentic AI project (e.g., tools/list and tools/call handling, AWS AgentCore Gateway target registration, Lambda-as-tool / OpenAPI-to-MCP translation)
• Experience building tool integrations for LLM agents (e.g., OpenAI functions, LangChain tools, or equivalent)
• Proficiency in Python async programming, async HTTP services, and streaming protocols
• Expertise in AWS Lambda development
• Understanding of agent tool integration patterns, including function calling, tool schema definition, and parameter validation
