Description

You will maintain and administer an application running on IBM i / iSeries, monitor system activity, and manage batch job execution. You’ll analyze production errors and incidents, diagnose root causes by reading COBOL code and CL scripts, and verify data using DB2 and SQL. You will also run and control application processes, coordinate with business users and developers, and keep technical documentation up to date.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain the IBM i / iSeries application

• Monitor system operation and batch processes; review executed tasks

• Analyze production errors/incidents and identify their causes

• Analyze existing COBOL code and CL scripts to diagnose application issues

• Validate data in DB2; write SQL queries and explain discrepancies

• Run and control application processes; implement minor changes in CL procedures

• Collaborate with business users and development teams to resolve issues

• Prepare and update technical documentation and application operating instructions

Requirements

• Good knowledge of the IBM i / iSeries environment and IBM i / OS400

• COBOL proficiency to read code, analyze behavior, and diagnose errors

• CL proficiency to analyze and modify existing scripts

• DB2 for IBM i knowledge and very good SQL skills

• Knowledge of Query/400 (IBM Query for i)

• Ability to work with libraries, objects, jobs, job logs, and spool files in IBM i

• Experience handling batch processes and analyzing production incidents

• Ability to independently diagnose application and data problems
