Description

Manage and administer an application running on the IBM i/iSeries environment, including system monitoring, batch job execution, and troubleshooting production incidents. Analyze errors and existing COBOL and CL code, verify DB2 data, and prepare SQL queries to explain inconsistencies. Maintain and operate application processes and keep technical documentation up to date.

Responsibilities

• Ongoing maintenance and administration of the application on IBM i/iSeries

• Monitor system operation; handle batch processes and control executed jobs

• Analyze production errors/incidents and identify root causes

• Analyze existing COBOL code and CL scripts to diagnose application problems

• Verify data in DB2, prepare SQL queries, and explain discrepancies

• Run and control application processes; implement minor changes in CL procedures

• Collaborate with business users and development teams to resolve issues

• Prepare and update technical documentation and application operating instructions

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of IBM i/iSeries and IBM i / OS400

• Strong CL language skills, including analysis and modification of existing CL scripts

• Strong DB2 for IBM i knowledge and very good SQL

• COBOL knowledge to read code, analyze behavior, and diagnose errors

• Ability to work with IBM i libraries, objects, jobs, job logs, and spool files

• Experience with batch processes and analysis of production incidents

• Ability to independently diagnose application and data-related problems
