Description

Design, write, test, and optimize Assembler code for mainframe systems, while maintaining and enhancing legacy Assembler applications. Collaborate with teams to integrate Assembler components with COBOL/PL/I/Java applications, and use performance tools such as IBM RMF and OMEGAMON to improve system performance. Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues and mentor junior developers.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, test, and optimize Assembler code for mainframe systems

• Maintain and enhance legacy Assembler applications

• Integrate Assembler components with COBOL/PL/I/Java applications

• Optimize system performance using IBM RMF and OMEGAMON

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues using advanced debugging tools

• Mentor junior developers and lead knowledge-sharing sessions

• Contribute to system modernization strategies and decisions

Requirements

• 7+ years of Assembler (HLASM) development experience

• At least 5 years of experience in mainframe systems

• Expertise in Assembler (HLASM) and IBM platforms: z/OS, MVS, CICS, DB2

• Experience with performance tools: IBM Debug Tool, Abend-AID, OMEGAMON

• Strong knowledge of memory management and system programming

• Experience integrating Assembler with COBOL, PL/I, or Java

• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve production issues

• Very good command of English

• IBM Certified System Programmer and z/OS Mastery certifications are a plus
