Description

You will maintain and enhance an insurance application on IBM i / AS/400, making functional changes using CA 2E / Synon. The role includes COBOL code analysis, debugging, and diagnosis of production issues while preserving the existing business logic. You will also analyze DB2 data with SQL and Query/400 and support batch processing and related components.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the existing insurance application on IBM i / AS/400

• Analyze, modify, and develop functionality using CA 2E / Synon

• Analyze generated COBOL code and diagnose/fix application errors

• Analyze business logic and dependencies between system components

• Implement changes while preserving the current business logic

• Analyze data in DB2 using SQL and Query/400 tools

• Collaborate with technical and business teams to analyze tickets and deliver changes

• Diagnose problems in the production environment and support stable application operations

• Work with batch processes and system-supporting components

Requirements

• Practical knowledge of CA 2E / Synon / COOL:2E

• Several years of COBOL experience, ideally on IBM i / AS/400

• Good working knowledge of IBM i / iSeries for application development and maintenance

• Ability to read, analyze, and debug existing COBOL code

• Knowledge of DB2 for IBM i and practical SQL skills

• Knowledge of CL / CLLE and batch job processes

• Ability to analyze component dependencies and diagnose application issues

• Experience with complex legacy systems and extending them without changing business logic

• Ability to collaborate with technical teams and business users
