Description

Lead a firmware engineering team to build and scale embedded solutions for the next generation of AWS data center hardware. You will define an annual firmware roadmap, collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate firmware into AWS Data Center services, and support deployment and operations for smooth, optimal performance. This role blends people leadership with embedded systems innovation and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of firmware engineers, fostering growth and a culture of innovation and excellence
• Define and present an annual firmware roadmap to organizational leadership
• Collaborate with AWS hardware and software teams to integrate firmware into the broader AWS ecosystem
• Support deployment and operation of firmware in AWS data centers

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams
• 3+ years of designing or architecting systems (design patterns, reliability and scaling)
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the full development life cycle (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, livesite operations)
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams
• Experience managing a team of software engineers delivering scalable systems to customers
• 5+ years of embedded firmware development experience
• Knowledge of server hardware and components
• 5+ years of BMC (baseboard management controller) development
• Experience with systems management protocols or standards such as I2C, MCTP, PLDM, Redfish, USB, SPDM, and PCIe
