Senior • On-site

23,000 - 36,000 PLN/yr

Warsaw, Poland

Quick Facts

  • Role: Senior Backend Product Engineer (Go and/or JVM)

  • Focus: Backend-heavy, event-driven distributed systems and microservices ownership

  • Responsibilities: End-to-end delivery from architecture to production operations under a DevOps model

Description

In an autonomous, cross-functional squad, you will take ownership of backend-heavy product domains and be accountable for the architecture, design, development, deployment, and operation of microservices. You’ll build highly available, event-driven distributed systems, expose functionality via REST and gRPC, and operate the systems in production with strong testing and observability. You will also use modern AI tooling as a standardized part of engineering delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accountability for microservice architecture, design, development, deployment, and operation within a full DevOps model

  • Lead backend-heavy product problems end to end, designing and operating services reliably at scale

  • Build event-driven systems using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or AWS SQS/SNS, and expose data via REST and gRPC

  • Work with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD deployment pipelines

  • Commit to robust testing from unit tests through full end-to-end coverage

  • Collaborate within agile teams across product, frontend, design, and data

  • Participate in code and architecture reviews and provide technical guidance

  • Use AI tools and workflows (e.g., Claude, Cursor) to increase productivity

  • Operate what you build—instrument, monitor, and improve systems in production

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) as part of daily work

  • Strong fluency in Go or a JVM language (Java/Kotlin), plus production experience building distributed systems (event-driven/asynchronous) with clear service contracts and partial-failure design

  • Solid experience building, deploying, and operating critical backend services in production

  • Comfort with distributed systems, messaging queues, containerization, and modern deployment infrastructure

  • Practical application of design methodologies such as TDD, BDD, or DDD

  • Excellent communication skills in an international, multi-disciplinary technical environment

  • Ownership mindset with a bias to ship; strong product sense supported by data and user evidence

Benefits

  • Global collaboration with experienced engineers and product partners in an active knowledge-sharing culture

  • Technology with real-world impact, operating modern systems at global scale

  • Technical/product/design leadership in an autonomous, product-led setup

  • End-to-end development/delivery from problem definition to production

  • Workspace access at Warsaw Centre Point with modern amenities
