Description

You will help develop, modernize, and stabilize a large-scale enterprise platform serving over one million users. The role includes enhancing existing backend services, building new features, improving performance, and ensuring reliability and maintainability. The stack includes TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL, and React, running in a Kubernetes environment, with regular collaboration with German-speaking colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance backend services using TypeScript and Node.js

• Implement business logic and new functionality with NestJS (or similar backend frameworks)

• Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs and system integrations

• Analyze and refactor existing code to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability

• Investigate and resolve bugs, technical issues, and application performance problems

• Write and maintain unit and integration tests

• Participate in code reviews and promote clean code and good engineering practices

• Support application functionality and data processing using PostgreSQL and SQL

• Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, and software architects

• Communicate with German-speaking colleagues and stakeholders to clarify requirements and discuss solutions

• Contribute to modernization and stabilization of a large-scale enterprise application

Requirements

• 4+ years of commercial software development experience

• Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript

• Solid experience with Node.js and backend application development

• Experience with NestJS or a similar Node.js framework (NestJS strongly preferred)

• Good understanding of REST APIs and backend development principles

• Practical German language skills at B1+ (speaking, reading, and writing)

• Confidence participating in everyday technical discussions and meetings in German

• Ability to understand German-language documentation, tickets, and project requirements

• Experience working with Git and collaborative development workflows

• Understanding of clean code principles, software testing, and application debugging

• Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases

• Good English communication skills
