IoT Platform Engineer

Mid • On-site

20,000 - 26,000 PLN/yr

Warsaw, Poland

Quick Facts

  • Technical responsibility for deploying and evolving an enterprise-grade open-source IoT platform for on-site utilities management
  • Focus on integrating building/utility data into automation, reporting, and business decision support

Description

We are looking for someone to take technical ownership of implementing and continuing development of an IoT platform for utilities management on a property. The platform integrates data from building installations (HVAC, lighting, energy meters, air-quality sensors) and turns it into automation, reporting, and business decisions for customers. You will work on onboarding the environment architecture and iterating quickly based on real market and customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and configure the platform as the central monitoring and control system
  • Build and maintain data processing rules (Rule Engine), device integrations, and customer dashboards
  • Integrate the platform with hardware-layer protocols: Modbus RTU/TCP, BACnet IP/MSTP, MQTT, LoRaWAN, Zigbee
  • Develop APIs and integrations with external systems (ESG/EPBD reporting systems)
  • Gather and prioritize requirements from customers and the sales team; translate them into the platform roadmap
  • Optimize system performance, scalability, and security as the number of buildings and locations grows
  • Collaborate with automation engineers to select measurement and control devices consistent with the platform architecture
  • Support pilot deployments for customers and iterate quickly based on feedback

Requirements

Must have:

  • Experience designing and developing IoT systems, including architecture of communication brokers (MQTT, CoAP, HTTP), device integration, and telemetry processing
  • Backend programming skills (e.g., Java, JavaScript/Node.js, Python) to create rules, integrations, and microservices
  • Knowledge of building automation protocols: Modbus (RTU/TCP) and BACnet (IP/MSTP)
  • Knowledge of time-series databases (e.g., Cassandra, PostgreSQL, InfluxDB) and working with REST APIs
  • Experience deploying and maintaining systems in the cloud or on dedicated infrastructure using Docker
  • Product mindset: ability to translate customer and market needs into specific system functionality
  • Independence, initiative, and ability to quickly learn new platforms and tools
  • English proficiency to work with technical documentation

Benefits

  • Real impact on product development from early scaling stage (multi-site rollouts, 200+ sites)
  • Close collaboration with engineering, sales, and management teams
  • Flexible employment model (employee or B2B)
  • Remote or hybrid work option
  • Time to onboard the platform (subject-matter support, documentation, community)
