IoT/OT System Engineer

Description

You will operate, monitor, and continuously improve production-close IT/OT/Industrial IoT systems and related monitoring and analysis systems across production sites in Germany. You will develop and optimize PLC controls, manage interfaces between production control and edge systems, and expand the Industrial IoT and OT landscape. You will also coordinate technical changes, support installations and commissioning with external providers, and deliver technical documentation and user training.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and further develop production-close IT, OT, Industrial IoT, monitoring, and analysis systems
• Develop, program, and optimize PLC controls (e.g., Siemens S7, TIA Portal)
• Maintain and improve interfaces between production controls and edge systems
• Create, adapt, and standardize automation concepts, network segmentation concepts, and production/machine/system data
• Build out and evolve the Industrial IoT and OT landscape at production sites
• Support technical changes to production equipment and assess new requirements
• Coordinate external service providers; support installation, commissioning, and optimization
• Create technical documentation and conduct user trainings

Requirements

• Completed technical education (e.g., automation electronics, industrial electrical, mechatronics, or electrical technician)
• Knowledge of PLC systems, ideally Siemens S7 and TIA Portal
• Experience with industrial production and automation systems
• Basic knowledge of process control and SCADA systems
• Understanding of OT security principles and industrial security standards (e.g., IEC 62443, NIS-2)
• Analytical thinking, structured working style, and team spirit
• Travel readiness (~50%) within Germany and a valid Class B driver’s license
