Description

Develop and maintain Java 21 / Spring Boot batch and microservices for the KPS and XPOS platforms. Operate and tune an Apache Storm-based XPOS processing cluster, optimize SQL performance on Azure SQL Hyperscale, and migrate mainframe batch jobs and DB2 data flows to Azure as part of the CPOS / XPOS modernization program. Monitor nightly batch performance against SLAs, lead root-cause analysis of production incidents, and remediate open-source security findings with appropriate risk sign-off.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java 21 / Spring Boot batch and microservices, including framework and dependency upgrades.
• Operate, tune, and troubleshoot the Apache Storm-based XPOS processing cluster (worker balancing, restarts, alert tuning).
• Analyze and optimize SQL performance on Azure SQL Hyperscale (execution plans, indexing, query tuning, and HA replica behavior), working directly with Microsoft engineering/support.
• Migrate mainframe batch jobs and DB2 data flows to Azure (Hyperscale and Azure messaging) for CPOS / XPOS modernization.
• Monitor nightly performance batch against service levels; lead root cause analysis of production incidents; remediate open-source security findings (Nexus IQ / SCA) with the right risk sign-off.

Requirements

• Degree level education; preferably Computer Science (bachelor’s or master’s).
• Minimum of 18 years of hands-on Java development experience, ideally in banking or financial services.
• Strong proficiency in Java (17/21) and Spring Boot, including large framework upgrades.
• Proven experience tuning SQL Server / Azure SQL, ideally Hyperscale (execution plans, resolve plan regressions, CPU bottlenecks).
• Hands-on experience with distributed or stream processing such as Apache Storm, Kafka Streams, or Flink.
• Agile, Test Driven Development, and DevOps practices.
• Strong communication skills with senior management and teams, including working with external vendors.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
