RF & EE Validation Engineer (Autonomous Products)
Senior
109,600 - 234,000 USD/yr

Quick Facts
Role: RF & EE Validation Engineer (Autonomous Products)
Focus: Hardware validation for a Telematics Control Unit (TCU) connecting vehicles/energy products/robots to cellular, Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth, and GNSS
Description
Own end-to-end hardware validation for the TCU, including test architecture, DV/PV planning, and pass/fail criteria across cellular, Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth, and GNSS. Execute RF transmitter/receiver parametric validation, OTA TRP/TIS and MIMO performance checks, GNSS/NTN capability validation, and electrical platform verification under automotive power/thermal constraints. Build and automate a Python-based test framework and lead root-cause debug to determine hardware readiness for certification and production.
Responsibilities
Define the TCU validation strategy: test architecture, DV/PV plan, pass/fail criteria, and program gate entry/exit criteria
Perform cellular parametric tests (e.g., EVM, ACLR, spectral flatness, spurious emissions, sensitivity, blocking) across bands, power, and temperature corners
Own OTA parametric validation (TRP/TIS) and multi-antenna MIMO performance (ECC, diversity imbalance), correlating conducted and OTA results
Lead GNSS performance and NTN satellite-to-cellular validation (TTFF, acquisition/tracking sensitivity, C/N0, interference resilience)
Identify and debug platform desensitization (e.g., MSD from harmonic/intermodulation during carrier aggregation and multi-radio operation) and validate mitigations
Validate electrical platform behavior: high-speed digital interfaces, PDN, and memory architecture against automotive thermal/space/key-off current constraints
Architect and implement Python test automation (SCPI/VISA + vendor APIs, hardware abstraction, reusable library, sequencer, structured reporting)
Automate bench setup and DUT provisioning, including RF routing/switch matrices, attenuators, thermal/OTA positioning, power supplies, firmware flashing, SIM/modem configuration, AT commands, and CAN control
Drive readiness for certification and regulatory compliance via in-house pre-screening (PTCRB, GCF, FCC, ISED, CE/RED)
Partner with hardware/firmware/manufacturing and chipset vendors; bridge validation into factory calibration/test flow and mentor engineers/technicians
Requirements
Degree in Electrical Engineering, RF/Microwave Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years hands-on RF/EE validation experience for P3 or 8+ years for P4, with technical ownership of multiple programs
At least one product taken through certification and volume production
Automotive, telematics/TCU, mobile handset, IoT, or telecom hardware experience (TCU strongly preferred)
Strong command of 3GPP physical-layer requirements and RFFE architectures plus signal/power integrity fundamentals
Demonstrated cross-domain debugging across the RF/EE boundary
Hands-on cellular callbox and network emulator experience (e.g., Keysight UXM, R&S CMW500/CMX500, Anritsu MT8000A)
Expert instrument skills: VNAs (calibration/embedding/de-embedding), spectrum/signal analyzers, oscilloscopes (including high-bandwidth and jitter/eye for digital and memory), and power meters
GNSS simulator experience (e.g., Spirent GSS-series, Safran/Orolia) including multi-constellation and TTFF scenarios
Python (preferred), or MATLAB/LabVIEW, for instrument automation, unattended sweeps, and parametric data analysis with calibration traceability and uncertainty budgets
Ability to communicate clearly and own multiple programs on aggressive schedules
Benefits
Competitive pay and full-time employee benefits from day 1, including medical/dental/vision, HSA contribution, FSA, 401(k) match, life/disability insurance, paid time off/holidays, and employee assistance programs
Additional voluntary benefits (e.g., critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, legal services, pet insurance), childcare/support resources, commuter benefits, discounts, and employee perks
Earned Wage Access (real-time pay access paid daily) subject to eligibility
Expected Compensation
$109,600 - $234,000 annual salary + cash/stock awards and benefits
