Quick Facts

  • Role: Validation & Tooling Software Engineer focused on residential energy device software

Description

Design and maintain internal Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and developer tooling that helps residential energy firmware teams validate behavior with high confidence. Build high-fidelity simulation environments, trace capture/replay, and visualization/debugging tools for complex multi-process embedded Linux systems. Extend the tooling platform to support new products, revisions, capabilities, and regional/market-specific configurations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain internal SIL and developer tooling (primarily Python and Go)

  • Build close-to-real-life SIL environments for multi-process embedded Linux systems

  • Develop visualization and debugging tools (reports, dashboards, control-flow visualization)

  • Implement and support trace/hook/instrumentation to enable field trace capture and faithful SIL replay

  • Onboard new products, revisions, capabilities, and regional configurations into shared workflows

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced collaborative environment

  • Experience building internal developer/validation/simulation tooling used daily by other engineers

  • Proficiency in Python and Go; Rust/C/C++ experience is a plus

  • Comfort working across the boundary between tools and the systems under test (embedded/device software, multi-process Linux, IPC, logs, traces)

  • Real-world experience in one or more areas: SIL/simulation harnesses/high-fidelity embedded validation; debugging/visualization/observability; trace/instrumentation capture-replay or hook-based systems; extending test/simulation platforms
