Description

You will ensure Java systems stay fast, stable, and available by investigating production issues in large-scale Java applications, identifying root causes, and preventing recurrence. The role includes monitoring and incident response, deployment support, and continuous improvement of runbooks and automation.

Responsibilities

• Monitor dashboards and alerts; review JVM health and server resources.

• Investigate production incidents using application logs, SQL queries, and Linux server troubleshooting; restore service within SLA.

• Perform root cause analysis, create Problem records, and collaborate with developers on permanent fixes.

• Support release/deployment activities; monitor after go-live and confirm system health.

• Improve runbooks and documentation; automate repetitive checks to increase resilience.

Requirements

• 5–7 years in Application Production Support or Application Maintenance.

• Strong Java skills to understand architecture and code (not just restart services).

• Comfortable with JVM concepts and diagnosing from application logs.

• Confident SQL skills to investigate and validate data.

• Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux troubleshooting.

• Experience supporting applications on large-scale server environments.

• Enjoys root cause analysis and preventing recurrence.

• Practical experience with ITSM: Incident, Problem, Change management.

• Ability to handle pressure and juggle several priorities.

• Clear English communication (written and spoken).
