Quick Facts

  • Role: Cloud Hardware Development Engineer (AI/ML Accelerator Servers)

  • Focus: End-to-end ownership of accelerator server platforms (NPI → fleet health)

Description

You will be an end-to-end owner of accelerator (AI/ML/GPU) server platforms, from NPI through qualification, launch, and ongoing operational excellence in the AWS fleet. You will design scalable server solutions, drive predictive failure detection and fleet diagnostics using telemetry and logs, and perform deep root-cause analysis across firmware, kernel/driver, thermal, power, and physical layers. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary hardware/firmware/test/qualification/manufacturing teams and ODM partners to bring servers to the data center and improve reliability over time.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end NPI lifecycle for storage and/or accelerator server platforms (architecture definition, design, qualification, manufacturing ramp, launch)

  • Lead technical solutions for complex server and rack architectural challenges

  • Create functional specifications, design verification plans, and validation test procedures

  • Drive qualification and readiness milestones to meet performance, reliability, and cost targets

  • Identify and resolve technical risks early to prevent production issues

  • Own fleet health after launch by designing predictive detection using telemetry/sensor/error trends/log correlation

  • Drive toward zero-touch operations with automated detect/diagnose/remediate workflows

  • Debug time-sensitive complex system failures and perform root cause analysis across system layers

  • Apply expertise across hardware/software/system design, including x86 architecture, compute/storage/network/GPU

  • Collaborate across teams (hardware, firmware, test, qualification, integration, supply chain, product management) and with datacenter operations to close the loop from field failures to design improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent

  • 2+ years of hardware design, development, and validation experience for server or compute platforms

  • Experience in one or more server technologies: thermal/mechanical design, power delivery, high-speed signal integrity, or accelerator subsystems

  • Experience developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and validation test procedures

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits including health insurance options, EAP/mental health support, retirement (401(k) matching), paid time off, and parental leave

  • Sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs)

  • Health insurance, flexible spending accounts, and adoption/surrogacy reimbursement coverage
