Description

Own a major portion of the team’s data architecture by building logical data models and delivering stable, performant, high-quality analytical data pipelines. Design data contracts, ingestion flows, and analytical models that improve self-service access to datasets across AWS. Drive ongoing data quality, security, scalability, and cost-aware infrastructure and processing at massive scale.

Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve data quality issues in processing tools; improve pipelines and ingestion/transformations.

• Build and optimize logical data models and data pipelines for difficult datasets with testability, maintainability, security, scalability, and cost considerations.

• Make dataset-level technical trade-offs and minimize unnecessary complexity.

• Produce pragmatic, secure, maintainable code that others can understand.

• Contribute to data-architecture infrastructure decisions and manage resources (compute, storage, query optimization, AWS infrastructure).

• Solve complex integration problems across multiple sources; proactively resolve inconsistency and data-quality gaps.

• Break work into tasks, deliver independently, and collaborate on shared dependencies; build consensus.

• Mentor peers and support hiring; share team knowledge.

• Drive engineering best practices (code quality, data certification, dependency management, operational excellence), establish SLAs, automate manual processes, and improve self-service.

• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, planning, and operational reviews.

• Join on-call rotation and take ownership of operational health (monitoring, alarming, runbooks, incident resolution).

Requirements

• 5+ years of data engineering experience

• 3+ years developing and operating large-scale business intelligence data structures using ETL/ELT

• 3+ years developing and operating large-scale business intelligence data structures using SQL

• 5+ years analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, and/or NoSQL

• 3+ years developing and operating large-scale business intelligence data structures using OLAP technologies and data modeling

• Experience communicating with users and technical teams to collect requirements and explain data modeling and engineering strategy
