Description

Own supplier qualification and ongoing quality monitoring for complex electrical and mechanical infrastructure equipment used in data centers. Lead internal and external engagements to deliver robust and resilient quality systems at vendors and within AWS, using on-site audits and improvement programs to eliminate defects and prevent recurrence without risking availability. Define critical-to-quality parameters, perform inspections and functional testing, and validate root-cause analysis from a technical and quality perspective.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a Supplier Quality roadmap for complex electrical and/or mechanical infrastructure equipment
  • Manage complete equipment lifecycle quality with suppliers, engineering, procurement, and other internal stakeholders
  • Perform thorough on-site audits to close quality gaps and ensure supplier quality systems and processes meet AWS quality and product specification requirements
  • Track supplier performance and set KPI goals through Supplier Quality Improvement Programs
  • Develop critical-to-quality parameters and perform critical-to-quality inspections and functional testing
  • Review historical failures, equipment design changes, and lessons learned; update inspections/tests and equipment technical specifications
  • Lead root-cause analysis for complex electrical and mechanical infrastructure equipment and critical components, working with suppliers and cross-functional teams
  • Evaluate and validate complex root-cause analysis reports using critical thinking and quality principles
  • Develop new equipment and/or new supplier qualification plans; drive quality programs from prototyping to mass production
  • Analyze failures across the equipment lifecycle and create technical reports to drive design and specification improvements at supplier factories
  • Work on concurrent projects, including across multiple geographical regions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 8+ years in a quality management function with direct interaction with suppliers
  • 8+ years in electrical or mechanical product manufacturing, or supplier quality
  • Ability to travel 30–50% internationally and domestically
