Description

You will drive the technical further development of multi-tenant platform architecture, design new cloud services, and shape the technical direction of cloud engineering. The role covers datacenter, network, security, storage, and compute architecture for OpenStack/VMware-based operations and the transition of operating models. You will also support PreSales on architecture design, sizing, and effort estimation.

Responsibilities

• Architecture and further development of multi-tenant platforms (OpenStack/VMware)

• Design datacenter, network, and security architecture (backbone, firewalls, segmentation)

• Design and integration of network, security, storage, and compute components

• Create platform blueprints, operating concepts, and scaling models

• Perform sizing and capacity planning for compute, storage, and network resources

• Design new cloud services and contribute to the service portfolio

• Evaluate and assess new technologies for platform use

• Support PreSales with architecture design, capacity planning, and effort estimates (~10–15% of your time)

• Create and maintain architecture documentation, standards, and guidelines

• Serve as a technical sparring partner for engineers, consultants, and team leads

• Participate in team on-call rotation

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification

• Multi-year experience designing and operating complex cloud and datacenter infrastructures, including at least 3 years designing multi-tenant platforms

• Excellent expertise in OpenStack and/or VMware (vSphere, NSX, vSAN, vCloud Director)

• Deep knowledge of datacenter network architecture, enterprise storage, and security concepts

• Experience designing tenant-isolated platforms

• Practical experience with automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, APIs)

• Ability to communicate, decide, and defend complex architectures

• Technical collaboration experience with PreSales and customers

• Willingness to participate in on-call

• Availability for planned onsite/customer or PreSales support (about 2–4 days per month)

• Very good German and English

• Relevant certifications are an advantage
