Description

Lead the design, development, and deployment of backend platform capabilities for a restricted Azure Greenfield environment hosting models. Build a model-query API for users, using Azure Databricks to host and deploy models, and define how models are wrapped with an MLflow wrapper. Implement CI/CD best practices with GitLab to ensure code quality, testing, and automated deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend platform capabilities in a restricted Azure Greenfield environment

• Create an API that allows users to query deployed models

• Leverage Azure Databricks to host and deploy models

• Define guidelines for model deployment, including MLflow wrapping and API design

• Establish CI/CD best practices using GitLab (code quality, testing, deployment automation)

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5+ engineers

• Foster a collaborative, high-performance environment

Requirements

• 8+ years of data engineering experience; 2+ years in a leadership role

• Strong Python and data engineering libraries (Python Core, multithreading, async)

• REST API development experience

• Strong understanding of exceptions and Pydantic

• Strong Azure experience: Azure Databricks, Azure App Service, and IAM/RBAC

• CI/CD workflows and DevOps practices; GitLab version control experience

• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration: Docker and Kubernetes

• Strong problem-solving in a fast-paced agile environment

• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management
