Senior

220,800 - 331,200 USD/yr

Quick Facts

  • Role: Product Design Director (Commerce)

  • Focus: End-to-end commerce shopping experience across Copilot, Bing, and Edge, including partner surfaces

Description

Own the end-to-end design vision for Commerce, delivering a single coherent shopping experience rather than separate surface experiences. Lead a multidisciplinary team (product design, content design, and embedded user research) and set design quality standards, interaction patterns, and design systems. Define agentic commerce interactions that build trust through transparency, controllability, inspectability, and recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of four direct reports across product design, content design, and user research

  • Create interaction patterns for an agentic era: intent expression, guided discovery, recommendations, comparison, approvals, transparency, confidence, recovery, and purchase

  • Ensure cross-surface coherence by connecting discovery, comparison, checkout, and post-purchase into one shopper journey across Copilot, Bing, Edge/checkout, and partner surfaces

  • Partner with product pillar leads and represent design in roadmap and prioritization decisions

  • Establish and maintain design quality standards (design systems, content standards, critique/review cadence, operational practices)

  • Champion responsible AI patterns that make automation legible, controllable, inspectable, reversible, and respectful of shopper intent

  • Ground decisions in research, experimentation, customer signals, and business context; connect experience quality to measurable shopping outcomes

  • Represent Commerce design to senior leadership and external partners in pitch and partnership conversations

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Industrial Design/Product Design/HCI/UX/Interaction Design (or related) with 7+ years product or service design experience, OR

  • Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years product or service design experience, OR

  • Equivalent experience in product/service design using design thinking

  • 5+ years people management experience

  • Portfolio showing product thinking, interaction design, visual design, customer empathy, systems thinking, and impact through shipped products

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams spanning product design, content design, and user research

Benefits

  • Growth mindset and inclusive culture aligned to respect, integrity, and accountability
