Description

Join a small team building a product that connects pet owners with veterinarians, including health records, preventive reminders, and AI-driven product recommendations. You’ll build backend services in Node.js and PostgreSQL, develop AI recommendations and health alerts, integrate Gemini into real care workflows, and design APIs for the web plus Shopify app/extensions. Frontend work in React/TypeScript is expected when required.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend in Node.js and PostgreSQL
• Build AI recommendation and health notification features
• Integrate Gemini into pet care workflows
• Design APIs for web, Shopify app integrations, and a Chrome extension
• Keep infrastructure simple, efficient, and reliable (no overengineering)
• Collaborate directly with the founders on product direction

Requirements

• Strong backend foundation (Node.js, SQL, API design)
• Full-stack flexibility (React + TypeScript when needed)
• AI-friendly mindset; use and reason about AI outputs with tools like Claude/Cursor/Gemini
• Pragmatism and good engineering judgment
• Strong communication and ability to operate in a small team
