Description

Lead and manage a founding team of early-career engineers, co-located with you in Rochester, to deliver AI Labs projects aligned with broader organizational goals. Mentor engineers, drive technical execution and delivery, and ensure security best practices and compliance are followed. Collaborate with stakeholders, manage team capacity, and stay current on AI trends to bring back what’s useful.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the founding early-career engineering team

• Mentor and coach technically and professionally; provide regular direct feedback

• Source, hire, and run technical interviews and screens for new engineers

• Help run the summer internship program (select cohort; mentor interns)

• Build relationships with local universities to create an early-career pipeline

• Drive delivery of high-quality, scalable cloud solutions

• Dive deep into complex systems to guide technical tradeoffs

• Ensure security and compliance best practices

• Facilitate and continuously improve team processes

• Partner with business stakeholders and engineering counterparts

• Set expectations with leadership, raise risks early, and manage capacity

• Shape team/AI Labs strategy with leadership

Requirements

• BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in engineering management

• Hands-on .NET and C# application development and maintenance

• Hands-on AWS cloud solution design, development, and operations

• Experience integrating AI technologies (AI services, LLMs, intelligent features) into real applications

• Experience working in agile environments and driving process improvements

• Proven leadership, mentoring, and team development experience

• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills

Benefits

• Base pay range: $148,800–$212,500/yr

• Eligible for annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant based on performance
