Description

The Strategic Account Manager owns the customer experience journey for newly acquired Strategic Accounts, including contract updates and expansion implementation plans. This role builds and executes a strategic pipeline across multi-location key accounts and collaborates with leadership and cross-functional teams to train and coach field teams on account strategy, retention, and growth. The position uses competitive intelligence and deep customer/market insights to shape strategy and drive sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full portfolio and construct/deconstruct new and retention sales opportunities for diagnostics businesses
  • Increase portfolio presence in veterinary hospitals to maximize, protect, and defend total customer value while supporting customers through the Staywell Journey
  • Work cross-functionally with Regional Business Director, Area Business Managers, Strategic Growth Manager, Deal Desk, and Net Revenue Management to ensure adequate margins/profit
  • Drive install and workflow processes to ensure new accounts have a strong customer experience
  • Act as a product expert for new product launches (e.g., Imagyst, HUB, Vue+, OptiCell)
  • Provide field-level intelligence on diagnostics competition
  • Coach Area Business Managers and Area Teams on diagnostics tactics and cross-selling for larger-scale accounts
  • Develop and refine the Area Pipeline for Emerging Corporates and share best practices across regions (e.g., cross-selling success stories)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 8+ years animal health industry and/or sales experience
  • Proven proficiency in onboarding, workflow management, and pipeline execution
  • Exceptional project management skills; ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and deliver high performance and quality on deadline
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to highly knowledgeable professionals
  • Excellent people skills; strategic thinking and decisive action
  • Ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional teams
  • Initiative, resourcefulness, accountability, and willingness to accept challenges and lead change
  • Ability to understand and execute lease financing, legal language, and contract administration
  • Ability to defend, retain, and grow business while maintaining financial rigor
  • Ability to learn and master skills, then teach and coach
  • Demonstrated financial and business acumen; ability to deliver strong ROI
