Description

Seeking an ambitious hardware engineer to design custom circuit technology for software-defined radio applications, building digital and RF circuits for national security mission needs. The role involves communications system development through board-level integration of high-speed digital components, commercially available chipsets, and embedded processors, including schematic capture, simulations, PCB analysis, and PCB/layout.

Responsibilities

  • Document designs from requirements, testing procedures, and bill of material

  • Perform detailed performance and functional measurements and debug at a hardware level

  • Create custom circuit cards using FPGAs, embedded processors, networking components, and other electronic components

  • Characterize hardware performance over a wide variety of environmental conditions

  • Use industry standard interfaces such as 1GE, 10GE, 40GE, 100GE, SPI, UART, SDRAM, DDR3, DDR4, JESD, PCIe, and 1000BASE-T

  • Support test engineering with transition of hardware to manufacturing testing

  • Contribute to design review and system integration

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience

  • OR graduate degree and minimum 4 years of prior related experience

  • OR, in lieu of a degree, minimum 10 years of prior related experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with CCA and hardware design

  • Familiarity with lab test equipment

  • Minimum 4 years of experience with hardware verification, schematic capture, and PCB layout

  • Experience with laboratory debug techniques using digital scopes, logic analyzers, BERTs, and other complex measurement devices

  • Preferred: Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or electrical engineering

  • Preferred: Experience with Mentor Graphics tools

  • Familiarity with code revision management tools such as Git and/or ClearCase

  • Familiarity with Confluence or other information sharing tools
