Description

The role supports a portfolio of Technical Development digital solution areas by translating scientific workflows and stakeholder needs into clear, build-ready requirements. It maintains a practical roadmap and prioritized backlog, and coordinates cross-functional delivery through partnership and influence to deliver impactful, supportable solutions that improve scientific workflows across biologics and small molecule development. Early focus areas may include ELN and lab platform expansion, lab digitalization, materials/sample management, workflow automation, and integration of computational capabilities into day-to-day scientific work.

Responsibilities

  • Work with lab and data scientists, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand current scientific workflows, define future-state processes, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, data quality, and user experience.
  • Embed AI, data science, modeling, automation, and other computational approaches into digital workflows where they improve scientific work, usability, or data-driven ways of working.
  • Translate scientific and operational needs into clear solution artifacts, including process flows, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, data/integration requirements, and UAT plans.
  • Maintain the roadmap and prioritized backlog for assigned digital solutions, balancing organizational impact, user value, scientific rigor, timelines, risk, and technical complexity.
  • Guide delivery teams and working groups by clarifying priorities, dependencies, acceptance criteria, release readiness, and issue resolution.
  • Partner with TechDev Data Science, IT, Quality, Digital Operations, and other groups so solutions are integrated, supportable, fit for intended use, and aligned with data and compliance expectations.
  • Identify opportunities to reuse requirements, workflow patterns, data definitions, and solution approaches across related TechDev initiatives to reduce duplication and improve consistency.
  • Coordinate user validation, rollout planning, training and communication needs, adoption feedback loops, and impact tracking for assigned capabilities.
  • Support AI-enabled solution areas in line with Responsible AI requirements and governance processes, including risk-based assessment, clear accountability, appropriate oversight, and safeguards that help protect patients, employees, data, and Gilead.

Requirements

  • BA/BS with 8+ years of relevant experience OR MA/MS/MBA with 6+ years of relevant experience OR PhD with relevant scientific, technical, informatics, or business systems experience.
  • Experience in product ownership, business process analysis, solution delivery, data platforms, scientific workflow solutions, or technical systems implementation in a lab-based environment.
  • Experience supporting pharmaceutical development, Technical Development, CMC, laboratory informatics, ELN, sample/materials management, workflow automation, data-enabled workflows, or adjacent scientific domains.
  • Ability to translate complex scientific or operational workflows into requirements, process flows, user stories, acceptance criteria, and UAT plans.
  • Clear communication and stakeholder partnership skills, including the ability to synthesize complex technical and scientific topics and support alignment across diverse audiences.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional delivery through partnership and influence with business SMEs, IT/platform teams, engineering, Quality, Data Science, and operations partners.
  • Working knowledge of data and integration concepts for scalable digital solutions, including APIs, metadata, identifiers, data quality, and system boundaries.

Benefits

  • Salary range: $169,320.00 - $219,120.00 (base compensation varies based on experience, qualifications, and geographic location).
  • May be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary).
