Role: Application Engineer—customer-facing technical liaison for advanced motion control solutions.

Description

Serve as the primary technical point of contact between customers, sales, and engineering teams for miniature motor, gearbox, and motion control solutions used in aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial applications. Combine engineering expertise, technical solution development, and project management to support customers throughout the product lifecycle—from concept and prototyping through qualification and production launch.

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary technical point of contact for customers throughout the sales and product development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand technical requirements, application challenges, performance expectations, and program objectives.
  • Develop and recommend standard, modified, or customized motion control solutions aligned with customer needs.
  • Translate customer requirements into clear technical specifications for engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Evaluate customer applications and perform technical analysis, motor sizing, feasibility assessments, and performance validation.
  • Apply expertise in motors, gearboxes, electromechanical systems, and motion control technologies to identify optimal solutions.
  • Support development of custom-engineered products for aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial applications.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on precision motion technologies and the product portfolio.
  • Lead customer programs from concept through development, qualification, testing, and production launch.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities among engineering, manufacturing, operations, quality, and commercial teams.
  • Manage project timelines, customer milestones, risks, and action items for successful program execution.
  • Support multi-year development cycles requiring ongoing customer engagement.
  • Partner with sales and business development to deliver customer solutions and facilitate communication on requirements, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Participate in technical reviews, design reviews, customer meetings, and new product introduction activities.
  • Build trusted customer relationships and provide ongoing technical support throughout program life.
  • Gather customer feedback and market intelligence to inform future product development and strategic growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3–5+ years of engineering experience in Application Engineering, Sales Engineering, Systems Engineering, Product Engineering, or related customer-facing technical roles.
  • Experience working directly with customers to develop and deliver technical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple projects, timelines, and customer priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel approximately 15–20%, including customer visits and occasional international travel.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without requiring company sponsorship to obtain or keep U.S. work authorization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with electric motors, motion control systems, precision motion solutions, gearboxes, electromechanical products, or related technologies.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, aviation, military, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with aerospace development programs, qualification processes, and long product development cycles.
  • Background supporting custom-engineered solutions or highly technical products.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional engineering projects and New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
  • Knowledge of ITAR, DFARS, aerospace, defense, or compliance-driven environments.
