Lead Anaplan Model Builder

Senior • Remote

Warsaw, MZ, Poland

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Anaplan Solution Architect / Model Builder to design, build and evolve high-performance Anaplan solutions. This is a hybrid role: half of the job is deep technical craftsmanship inside Anaplan, and the other half is being a trusted business partner who understands the why behind every requirement. You will need to be equally comfortable in a model’s formula editor and in a room full of Sales, Finance or Compensation stakeholders challenging their requirements.

Prior experience with Sales Compensation Management / Incentive Compensation Management (SPM/ICM) is a strong differentiator for this role, given the strategic importance of compensation modelling.

Key Responsibilities

Anaplan Design & Development

  • Design, build and enhance Anaplan models following platform best practices (PLANS, DISCO, UX).
  • Translate approved functional and technical designs into scalable, high-performing Anaplan architectures.
  • Manage full deployment lifecycles using Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) across DEV / UAT / PROD environments.
  • Build and maintain data integrations (Imports/Exports, CloudWorks, Anaplan Connect, APIs) with upstream and downstream systems (CRM, HRIS, Data Warehouse).
  • Continuously monitor, tune and optimize model performance, sparsity and calculation efficiency.
  • Design intuitive, self-service UX pages (dashboards, worksheets) that reduce reliance on IT for day-to-day usage.
  • Apply rigorous naming conventions, version control and model governance standards.

Business Requirements Gathering & Translation

  • Lead and contribute to scoping workshops and functional specification sessions with business stakeholders (Sales, Finance, Sales Compensation, Revenue Operations).
  • Bring a strong business mindset: the environment is fast-moving and complex, and requirements evolve quickly; this role is as much about understanding the business as it is about building the model.
  • Constructively challenge business requirements, balancing stakeholder needs against system consistency, ROI, maintainability and scalability.
  • Participate in the definition and prioritization of user stories and backlogs.
  • Produce and maintain clear, up-to-date technical and functional documentation (design specs, data dictionaries, process flows, release notes); documentation quality is a key expectation of this role.
  • Support end users during User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Hypercare phases, including training and troubleshooting.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, translating ambiguous or evolving needs into structured, actionable solutions.

Sales Compensation & Planning Expertise

  • Contribute to the design and evolution of Sales Compensation / Incentive Compensation models, including quota management, commission calculation and plan simulation.
  • Support FP&A planning cycles: Top-Line and Bottom-Up planning, budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Ensure compensation and planning models remain compliant, auditable and aligned with finance/HR policies as plans evolve.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Monitor and proactively assess new Anaplan platform features and releases, including new UX capabilities and page-building enhancements.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation, including Anaplan’s AI/ML capabilities and generative AI tools, to accelerate documentation, testing, data QA and model development.
  • Proactively propose improvements to strengthen, simplify and secure business processes end to end.
  • Contribute to the Anaplan Center of Excellence by sharing best practices and improving internal ways of working.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Anaplan Solution Architect or Senior Model Builder. Anaplan Model Builder Certification Level 2 or Level 3 / Certified Solution Architect is strongly preferred.
  • 4+ years of dedicated Anaplan experience, supported by a strong background in enterprise planning software or financial/sales technology.
  • Strong knowledge of the Anaplan Way project methodology and Connected Planning principles.
  • Proven track record of analyzing complex business requirements and translating them into robust, scalable Anaplan solutions across at least 2–3 end-to-end implementations.
  • Strong business acumen and stakeholder-management skills; able to engage confidently with Finance, Sales and Compensation leaders, not just IT.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable operating autonomously in a fast-changing, ambiguous environment, with strong prioritization skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a genuine ability to produce clear, structured documentation.

Business Knowledge

  • FP&A processes: Top-Line and Bottom-Up planning, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Sales Compensation / Incentive Compensation Management processes; hands-on prior experience is a significant advantage.
  • General understanding of Sales, Revenue Operations or Go-To-Market processes in a B2B / SaaS / digital media environment is a plus.
  • Tech-and-business hybrid profile: as rigorous about model architecture as about understanding the commercial context behind a requirement.
  • Curious and proactive; keeps up with the Anaplan roadmap, AI trends and industry best practices without being asked.
  • Comfortable challenging stakeholders respectfully to find the right balance between business flexibility and system robustness.
  • Collaborative team player who enjoys mentoring and knowledge-sharing across the Anaplan community.
  • Resilient and adaptable in a fast-changing, high-growth environment where priorities can shift quickly.

Benefits

  • High Impact: Direct influence over a high-stakes, multi-module planning ecosystem supporting over 50% of the workforce.
  • Strategic Projects: Take the lead on upcoming major strategic implementations starting in Q4.
  • Flexibility: Fully remote engagement from anywhere in Europe with a structured 12-month contract.
  • Streamlined Hiring Process: Single 45-minute interview.
