Description

Phlebotomist– We Train. Assist in determining the suitability of donors, establish rapport to ensure donor confidentiality and customer happiness, respond to and assist with donor reactions, and monitor donors and equipment to ensure health of donors and quality of product. Set up, disconnect, and operate automated plasmapheresis machines; disconnect and dispose of contaminated disposable equipment.

  • Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
  • Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
  • Exposure to extreme cold below 32°F while working in plasma freezer
  • Personal protective equipment required (protective eyewear, garments, gloves, cold-gear)
  • Work performed standing for 6 to 8 hours per day
  • Bending and twisting neck and waist for 1–2 hours per day
  • Frequent hand movement; ability to make fast, simple movements of fingers/hands/wrists
  • Ability to make precise coordinated finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects
  • Frequent foot movement; may squat, crouch, or sit on heels
  • Walk up to 6–8 hours per day
  • Light lifting of 15 lbs; maximum lift of 50 lbs
  • Reach below shoulder height
  • Hearing acuity essential
  • Color perception/discrimination and vision standards correctable as specified
  • Able to comprehend and follow instructions to complete assigned tasks (oral/written)
