Description

The Medical Staff Coordinator supports the operations and governance of the Medical Staff Office by coordinating physician and advanced practice provider credentialing, privileging, and medical staff governance activities. This role ensures compliance with medical staff bylaws, regulatory standards, and organizational policies while facilitating the review and approval of practitioner appointments and clinical privileges. The coordinator manages credentialing and privileging documentation received from a Credentialing Verification Organization (CVO), prepares materials for the Medical Executive Committee, and supports medical staff leadership in maintaining accurate and compliant practitioner files.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate physician and advanced practice provider credentialing, privileging, and medical staff governance activities
  • Ensure compliance with medical staff bylaws, regulatory standards, and organizational policies
  • Facilitate review and approval of practitioner appointments and clinical privileges
  • Manage credentialing and privileging documentation received from a Credentialing Verification Organization (CVO)
  • Prepare materials for the Medical Executive Committee
  • Support medical staff leadership in maintaining accurate and compliant practitioner files
  • Serve as a liaison among the Medical Staff Office, medical staff leadership, administration, and credentialing partners to ensure timely review and approval of practitioner applications
  • Provide administrative support to medical staff committees (meeting coordination, documentation, and communication of follow-up actions)

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 years of experience in medical staff services, credentialing, provider enrollment, or other healthcare administrative functions supporting providers or healthcare operations
  • Experience supporting medical staff committees or governance processes
  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) certification within 3 years of hire into role
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; detail oriented
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines
