Description

The Card Acquisition team shapes the first customer experience on Affirm, building trust, clarity, and value from the first interaction. As a Senior Engineer, you will define long-term technical strategy, mentor senior engineers, and act as a force multiplier through technical depth, operational excellence, and the ability to navigate ambiguity. You will collaborate across product, design, and engineering to build polished, performant, and accessible user experiences that impact conversion and retention.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team
• Lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems; support the team throughout delivery
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics across the product development lifecycle
• Participate in ideation and articulate technical constraints; partner on decisions considering risks and trade-offs
• Identify project, process, technology, or business issues; advocate and lead solutions
• Own team operations and availability: monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting for “keep the lights on” and on-call efforts
• Set or improve code review and design standards; advocate beyond the team via writing and tech talks
• Provide feedback and guidance to develop talent; lead by example
• Participate in an on-call rotation

Requirements

• 4+ years experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin
• Track record building highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
• Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components with elegant, simple, extensible design
• Write high-quality code that is easily understood and used by others
• Proficient at making significant changes in a large code base using safe tooling and practices
• Ownership of growth by proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for global collaboration
• Requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field

• Base pay range per year (PLN): 308,000 - 428,000
