As a Senior API Engineer, you will help transform payment processing through reusable, cloud-enabled microservices that deliver next-generation payment capabilities. You will contribute to product innovation, performance optimization, and financial services for a global audience.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering expertise to develop and implement best-in-class payment processing capabilities aligned with Future State Architecture.
  • Produce high-quality code artifacts, ensuring adherence to quality standards and comprehensive testing.
  • Deliver highly available, resilient, and scalable software and services.
  • Collaborate within a cross-functional delivery team, supporting modernization and cloud adoption initiatives.
  • Lead by example in software delivery, setting high standards for code quality and process excellence.
  • Identify process improvements, mitigate risks, and resolve technical issues proactively.
  • Support the transformation of current payment systems with cloud-based solutions.
  • Partner with DevOps teams to enable automated infrastructure delivery, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Provide architecture guidance based on global standards and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with controls, standards, and security policies.
  • Mentor and coach team members, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience as an API engineer or in back-end microservices development.
  • Strong expertise in API design, low-level architecture, data modeling, and software engineering.
  • Over 5 years of hands-on Java programming experience.
  • Proficiency in JVM tuning, diagnostics, and performance optimization.
  • Solid knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and Spring Boot.
  • Practical experience with Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and service meshes.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools: Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, Jaeger, Kiali, and Open Telemetry.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, network configurations, IAM, and container orchestration.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working within the financial industry, particularly in payments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Go, Rust, Cucumber, and gRPC.
  • Knowledge of Oracle databases.
  • Mentoring or coaching background.

Language

  • Fluent English, written and verbal.
