Senior Backend Developer – Node.js & Go

As a Senior Backend Developer, you will be working on an exciting startup-like project within HSBC Tech. You will contribute to designing an innovative telemetry platform that delivers real value to customers by analyzing and visualizing data from banking applications. This role offers a unique chance to influence architecture, development practices, and to work on cutting-edge AI-driven solutions in a dynamic environment.

Your main responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance REST APIs to support telemetry data collection and analysis.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and improve development standards.
• Collaborate closely with customers and stakeholders to gather and understand requirements.
• Develop solutions that incorporate AI agents and agentic approaches for innovative delivery.
• Build, process, and expose product telemetry data from HSBC Tech applications.
• Ensure code quality, scalability, and performance while adhering to best practices.
• Participate in agile development cycles, code reviews, and continuous improvement efforts.

You’re ideal for this role if you have

• At least 5 years of backend development experience.
• Strong expertise in REST API design and development.
• Hands-on experience with Node.js.
• Good communication skills, comfortable engaging directly with customers.
• An AI-ready mindset with practical experience using chatbots and agentic approaches.
• Experience building high-performance, scalable REST APIs.

Strong plus

• Experience with Go (Golang).

Language required for the role

• Communicative level of English.
