Mapping Strategy

The Mapping Strategy team engineers global traffic flows and allocates capacity across products and regions. The work optimizes efficiency, resilience, and performance; defines and evolves KPIs, SLIs, and SLOs; advances measurement and dashboards; develops alerting and automation; and leads complex production investigations.

Role Overview

The mission includes overseeing the mapping system, ensuring availability, reliability, and performance, enhancing observability, and managing safe change processes.

Responsibilities

• Improve content-delivery products through cross-functional collaboration, data-driven decisions, and a focus on performance, availability, reliability, and efficiency.
• Respond to escalations for capacity-impact evaluation.
• Design strategies for allocating global capacity across products to balance efficiency, resilience, and customer experience.
• Engineer global traffic policies to continuously improve latency, availability, and resource utilization.
• Automate operational tasks and build frameworks that eliminate toil and reduce manual, repetitive work.
• Collaborate with engineering and SRE teams to build scalable, resilient systems and troubleshoot complex performance issues across services, networks, and regions.
• Implement and optimize monitoring, alerting, logging, and analytics to proactively detect, mitigate, and prevent issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related engineering field.
• Experience with Python, Go, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
• Linux CLI/shell fluency; deep Linux/Unix internals knowledge; and expertise with the network protocol stack, distributed systems, and systems design.
• Experience developing SQL queries for trend analysis, troubleshooting, and reporting.
• Experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or a related role.
• Fluency with monitoring, alerting, and logging platforms, such as Grafana and Prometheus.
• Experience with Lisp and Linear Programming is a plus.
