About the Role

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and inspire a team of engineers building SaaS and cloud-based solutions for the airline and travel industry. You will drive technical projects, foster innovation, and ensure delivery of high-quality products aligned with IATA New Distribution Capability (NDC) standards. The role helps shape modern airline retailing through solutions that provide value without the constraints of legacy systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality SaaS and cloud-based solutions.
  • Drive the technical direction, architecture, and implementation of projects aligned with IATA standards, including NDC, ARM, One-Order, and IFG.
  • Work with product management, design, and sales teams to define and execute product roadmaps.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Oversee the software development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Implement coding, testing, and deployment best practices to ensure scalability and reliability.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges, providing guidance and innovative solutions.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive team innovation.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation.
  • Promote high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Skills and Competencies

Technical Expertise

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive software development experience, including proficiency in Java, Python, or similar languages.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS and cloud technologies, with experience in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum.
  • Experience with microservices architecture, APIs, and web services.

Industry Knowledge

  • Airline or travel industry experience, including knowledge of distribution, pricing, sales, and servicing.
  • Understanding of IATA New Distribution Capability (NDC) and other relevant standards.

Leadership and Management

  • Proven ability to lead and manage engineering teams.
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills.
  • Experience in hiring, performance management, and career development.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.
