Senior Scoring Engineer (AML / Transaction Monitoring) (f/m)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Scoring Engineer to join a strategic Financial Crime Prevention programme focused on enhancing Transaction Monitoring capabilities. You will play a key role in designing and implementing advanced detection logic that leverages contextual data and analytics to identify suspicious financial activities while reducing false positives in high-volume transaction environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement advanced detection logic for Transaction Monitoring.
  • Build and configure scoring models for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) use cases.
  • Analyse large volumes of transactional and contextual data to improve detection accuracy.
  • Optimise scoring models through calibration, threshold tuning and false-positive reduction.
  • Ensure model explainability and compliance with AML governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate complex regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Requirements

Must-have

  • Strong hands-on experience in data analysis.
  • Experience working with high-volume transactional data.
  • Proven background in AML / Financial Crime projects.
  • Practical experience with Transaction Monitoring solutions.
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing detection logic and scoring models.
  • Experience with model optimisation, threshold calibration and score explainability.
  • Strong SQL skills.
  • Strong Python skills.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Quantexa.
  • Knowledge of modern Financial Crime and Transaction Monitoring platforms.
