WiFi Systems Architect (CPE / STB)

Senior • On-site

Wroclaw, DS, Poland

The Opportunity

A WiFi Systems Architect is needed to join a team responsible for home devices and WiFi/TV service quality. The role focuses on improving the performance and reliability of customer-premises equipment, including routers (CPE) and TV set-top boxes (STB), following a migration to proprietary network infrastructure.

This is a hands-on expert role rather than a classic network engineering or QA position. It is suited to a device-level WiFi and Android debugging specialist who can investigate logs, understand device internals, and resolve issues without obvious causes.

The Role

You will be the internal point of contact for WiFi topics, mentor colleagues, architect next-generation STB devices, and evaluate components and vendors. Daily work centers on analysis, debugging, and design rather than executing test suites.

Three Pillars of the Role

  • Mentoring: act as the team’s internal expert and first point of contact for WiFi-related topics.
  • Device architecture: create technical architecture for next-generation set-top boxes.
  • Component and vendor evaluation: assess chipsets, technologies, and suppliers.

What You’ll Do

  • Organise and develop the WiFi lab for STB devices, oversee tests, and draw actionable conclusions.
  • Analyse user-reported issues and identify root causes, including hard-to-reproduce quality defects.
  • Debug WiFi communication issues in Android TV-based devices.
  • Build test environments and scenarios to identify problems before deployment.
  • Create technical requirements and documentation for devices and WiFi.
  • Collaborate with device manufacturers and influence WiFi behavior in their solutions.
  • Build and develop tools for WiFi quality testing and monitoring.
  • Participate in new device development projects of approximately eight months, including technical specification, technology evaluation, and go-to-market support.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on WiFi experience in practical device-level work, not only standards knowledge.
  • Experience with CPE, STB, or similar home devices.
  • Experience with log analysis and network traffic analysis using Wireshark, ADB, console tools, and Linux.
  • WiFi testing experience and familiarity with Candela and Spirent test tools.
  • Deep understanding of device internals, including chipsets, drivers, and dependencies.
  • Experience creating technical requirements and documentation.
  • Experience working with vendors in an international environment.
  • Polish at B2/C1 level; client systems are in Polish.
  • English at C1/C2 level for technical discussions and project management.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of TR-398, TR-069, or similar standards.
  • Test automation or scripting experience.
  • Experience with vendors, integrators, or telecom QA.

Team and Working Model

You will join an existing team of WiFi, home-device, and TV engineers. You will work closely with an STB expert and a broader CPE team of four people that is growing to five. The team reports to a manager responsible for home devices and services.

The Warsaw lab and main office are available, with offices also in Katowice and Wrocław. Under an employment contract, work from the office is required three days per week. Under a B2B contract, location is more flexible, but periodic visits to the Warsaw lab are required.
