Project context

Syensqo is undergoing a fundamental transformation in which digital technologies are key drivers. This requires changes in how the organization operates and how it leverages its know-how, knowledge, and structured and unstructured datasets.

A dedicated startup team, Syensqo.ai, has been created for AI and Generative AI. The team’s focus is to deliver value with speed and agility while making no compromise on cybersecurity, compliance, ethics, guardrails, or regulations. The Senior AI Software Engineer will contribute to the team’s growth and development by maintaining a strong focus on excellence and implementing prioritized solutions quickly and agilely.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Senior AI Software Engineer will help create cutting-edge AI solutions in an agile, collaborative environment. The position reports to the Technical Lead.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and innovate: Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to build best-in-class AI-enabled product features.
  • AI integration: Implement and integrate Generative AI, machine learning models, and NLP to enhance platform capabilities, optimize processes, and improve user experiences.
  • Platform development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable AI platform features for feature teams, ensuring compatibility with other services and APIs.
  • Rapid problem-solving: Fix bugs and solve AI-performance, model-integration, and data-pipeline issues quickly to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Continuous improvement: Participate in code reviews and improve AI development processes so components are scalable, efficient, and maintainable.
  • Provide hands-on coaching, technical guidance, and structured feedback through code reviews, design sessions, and pair working.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in AI, machine learning, and cloud services.

Goals and deliverables

Specific Knowledge/Experience

  • At least 7 years of experience as a Software Engineer.
  • Proven track record in AI product development.
  • Expertise in Python; Java, Scala, and C# are valuable.
  • Knowledge of microservices; GraphQL is valuable.
  • Knowledge of DevOps, including ADO pipelines and Docker, plus experience deploying models through MLOps, LLMOps, or AIOps.
  • Knowledge of data management and data structures, including JSON Schema and Avro.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow and Microsoft Fabric Data Factory pipelines within Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong understanding of GenAI, AI, and ML technologies, including AI flow, evaluation, training, scoring, prompting, guardrails, and RAG.
  • Experience with Azure, GCP, or AWS.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies, particularly Scrum.
  • Proficiency in AI-assisted coding practices.
  • Valuable knowledge of distributed architectures, Akka concepts, NLP projects, standard methodologies and principles, and software patterns.
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools such as JIRA and Trello.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Creativity, curiosity, and a passion for innovation and technology.
  • Cloud certifications are a plus.
