Linux Platform Engineer

Department Overview

Dimetra's engineering team delivers mission-critical TETRA-based communications systems used by public safety organisations, police, emergency services and, in some projects, the military sector. The Linux Platform team delivers platform solutions—including Linux OS, virtualisation techniques and server configuration—that enable the building and configuration of the core of Dimetra communications systems.

Description

Design, develop and test Linux-based platform solutions, with a focus on virtualisation techniques, mainly KVM. Responsibilities include manual integration-level testing, test automation and platform hardware maintenance. Day-to-day work is performed using Scrum methodology and Agile best practices.

Basic Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Linux systems development or maintenance
• In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems, including KVM virtualisation administration and troubleshooting
• Good knowledge of Bash
• Good knowledge of Python
• At least basic knowledge of networking protocols and features: TCP/IP, routing and switching
• Good troubleshooting skills
• Enthusiasm for learning new things and taking on new responsibilities
• Strong team player who communicates openly and works closely with other teams
• English language skills enabling effective communication

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with Scrum methodology
• Experience with Git and Jira
• Experience with automation frameworks and Jenkins
