Linux Automation Engineer

Join the ASTRO Virtual Platform Team to build and automate Linux-based computing platforms that support mission-critical communication systems. This is not a day-to-day IT support or traditional system-administration role; the focus is on Infrastructure as Code and automation for Linux-based virtualized platforms at scale.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Automating the Lifecycle: Develop and maintain software solutions for the automated installation, upgrade, and configuration of Linux systems.
• Building the Foundation: Implement features and low-level designs for virtualized KVM environments, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Driving Quality: Design and execute automated functional and performance tests to ensure platform reliability.
• Collaborating Globally: Work within an Agile, international team to make infrastructure deployment effortless, secure, and robust.

Basic Requirements

• Linux Expertise: 2+ years of hands-on experience with Linux operating systems, ideally RedHat, and virtualization technologies.
• An Automation Mindset: Strong scripting skills with Bash, Python, or Ansible.
• Core Systems Knowledge: Solid understanding of Linux pillars, including systemd services, logging configuration, and access controls.
• Strong analytical mindset, deep technical curiosity, and ability to communicate effectively in English.

Bonus Points If You Bring

• Understanding of TCP/IP networking and TLS/PKI concepts.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile processes.
• Familiarity with PowerShell, or willingness to learn it, to support integrated Linux and Windows ecosystems.
• Professional certifications: RHCSA, RHCE, or CCNA.
