Software Engineer ( Python / React) -Trading Industry Experience Required

Description

• Develop and maintain backend services, frontend applications, and data pipelines.
• Build backend solutions in Python using FastAPI, Pydantic, and SQLAlchemy.
• Analyse and optimise Microsoft SQL Server databases, including queries, indexes, and execution plans.
• Support frontend applications developed with React and JavaScript.
• Develop and maintain processes that supply the platform with market data.
• Support quantitative models used for valuation, risk management, and market analysis.
• Review solutions delivered by the Central IT team and identify technical, performance, and architectural issues.
• Provide professional and constructive technical feedback.
• Act as a technical link between the local office in Switzerland and the Central IT team in Greece.
• Translate trader and analyst needs into practical technical solutions.
• Support Docker-based deployments and multi-service environments.
• Combine locally developed business tools with corporate solutions, standards, and platforms.

Requirements

• Experience developing and maintaining production software systems.
• Very good knowledge of modern, typed Python.
• Experience with FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy, or similar technologies.
• Very good knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, including query optimisation, indexing, execution-plan analysis, database schema design, and large datasets.
• Experience with Docker and multi-service environments.
• Practical knowledge of React and JavaScript; the role may be backend-focused but requires work across the full technology stack.
• Ability to analyse existing solutions and assess quality, performance, and architecture.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to understand complex business processes and data flows.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to professionally challenge technical decisions and propose better solutions.
• Independence, ownership, and willingness to lead solutions from analysis through implementation and deployment.
• Trading industry experience.
• Very good English and Polish.

Nice to have

• Experience in energy, commodity trading, or financial markets.
• Knowledge of power, gas, emissions, forward curves, positions, P&L, valuation, or risk.
• Experience with pandas, NumPy, PyArrow, Dagster, or Jupyter.
• Knowledge of Rust, C++, C#, or F# in performance-sensitive solutions.
• Experience working at the intersection of local business needs and centralised corporate IT structures.
