Principal Solutions Architect (Front-End Focused)

Description

Design and develop fast, scalable headless commerce front ends for global retail brands. The work focuses on improving web performance, Core Web Vitals, and conversion rates while using AI-powered engineering practices to accelerate and optimize software delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design and own front-end architectures using Next.js, React, and TypeScript for enterprise commerce solutions.
• Lead architectural decisions on rendering strategies (SSR, edge, serverless), state management, caching, and Core Web Vitals optimization; document decisions in ADRs.
• Break down epics into implementable user stories with clear acceptance criteria and complexity estimates.
• Define coding standards and conventions optimized for engineers and AI agents.
• Collaborate directly with clients during discovery to translate business requirements into technical architecture roadmaps.
• Resolve technical ambiguity before sprints and unblock distributed engineering teams.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience leading front-end architecture decisions for distributed engineering teams of 3+ people.
• Deep proficiency in React, Next.js (App Router, React Server Components), and TypeScript.
• Proven experience architecting enterprise commerce platforms, such as Shopify Plus, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce, or similar.
• Strong performance-engineering and Core Web Vitals optimization expertise, including LCP, CLS, INP, caching, and CDN.
• Experience structuring specifications, documentation, and tasks for AI-agent execution, such as Cursor and Claude Code.
• Excellent written and verbal client-facing English communication skills, including explaining trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
• Upper-Intermediate English or higher.

Nice to Have

• Experience with headless CMS platforms, including Contentful, Sanity, and Contentstack.
• Experience architecting headless commerce or composable storefronts, including Shopify Storefront API and SFCC Composable Storefront.
• Familiarity with Jest, Cypress, and Playwright.
• Experience with SCAYLE.
• Experience working in distributed, async-first teams across multiple time zones.
