Lead Solutions Architect - CREST New Technology

Description

CREST is being evaluated for an incremental, multi-year migration from COBOL programs on the HPE NonStop Guardian platform to technology that can run on commoditised Linux platforms. The target solution will be Java-based and use Event Hub technology, such as Kafka, to integrate migrated services with the non-migrated legacy CREST system. Migrated services must be platform-independent to run in OpenShift Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Define options and recommend migration from legacy systems to an event-driven, service-focused architecture in collaboration with enterprise architecture, application architects and other stakeholders.
• Deliver coherent end-to-end IT solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise engineering and architecture standards.
• Ensure end-to-end delivery consistency across platforms and teams, including solution walkthroughs with delivery teams.
• Collaborate with security to ensure the solution meets security standards.
• Establish infrastructure requirements and work with infrastructure teams on technical and infrastructure design.
• Establish solution architecture and design guidelines, patterns and standards for the new technology stack.
• Establish prototypes and proofs of concept for key components of the proposed architecture.
• Establish estimation principles for migration-program phases and proof-of-concept exercises.
• Lead implementation of prototypes and follow-on work.
• Present solution architecture and plans to management, customers and team members.
• Act as the technical authority for the solution under the new technology stack.

Requirements

• Demonstrable solution architecture skills and experience.
• Strong systems-development experience across inception, budgeting, architecture, design, development, testing, live implementation and post-implementation support.
• Strong experience implementing Event Hub technology, such as Kafka, and modern architectures, including service-oriented and microservices architectures.
• Experience leading implementation of platform-independent and database-independent applications.
• Experience working with financial-market infrastructure and/or regulated environments.
• Strong analytical and systems architecture/design skills.
• Database design skills using technologies such as Oracle and SQL Server.
• EDA technology experience, including Kafka.
• OpenShift and containerisation skills.
• Hands-on object-oriented design and Java programming skills.
• Ability to motivate, mentor, coach and lead colleagues.
• Ability to work independently, meet agreed timescales, identify and solve problems, and adapt to a dynamic environment.
• Strong written, oral, communication and presentation skills.
• Ownership and accountability for project work.
