Staff Backend Engineer

The Role

Join the Core Backend team to build reliable systems around fragmented, high-value data. Design services, data models, pipelines, and evaluation loops that create an intelligence layer for better, faster, and more explainable decisions.

You will work on business-critical infrastructure in a high-ownership team. Your work will improve data completeness, decision transparency, and product value.

What You Bring

• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• Hustle and grit; excellence in your craft and persistence in pursuing results
• Full ownership of work, driving projects to completion with minimal oversight
• Proactive communication, including surfacing blockers, asking the right questions, and keeping stakeholders informed
• Comfort with experimentation: testing ideas, measuring results, and iterating quickly on unsolved problems
• Strong fundamentals in system design, debugging, and problem-solving
• Python experience; strong candidates from other object-oriented programming backgrounds are also considered
• Experience with serverless technologies, including Lambda and EC2, asynchronous workflows, and cloud environments
• Comfort with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL
• Bonus: experience with LLMs/generative AI and distributed systems
