Distributed Systems Engineer

Description

Design and program a wide range of modules and components for a system that supports over 24 million queries per second with low latency.

Responsibilities

• Optimize developed software for response time and resource consumption.
• Ensure the reliability and scalability of built solutions.
• Create performance and correctness tests for new system components.
• Analyze new technologies for their applicability in production.
• Develop tools for monitoring and analyzing production-system operation.
• Continuously optimize existing tools and processes.

Desired Experience

• Excellent understanding of complex IT systems, from hardware through software to algorithms.
• Proficiency in programming.
• Very good knowledge of fundamental Internet protocols and technologies, including DNS, HTTP, and cookies.
• Good knowledge of methods for creating concurrent programs and distributed systems, from thread to continent level.
• Practical ability to observe, monitor, and analyze production systems and draw valuable conclusions.
• Ability to critically analyze solutions for performance, from theoretical estimation to identifying and resolving production issues.
• General knowledge of typical problems and solutions in high scalability and high availability.
• C1 level of English and Polish.
• Background in Computer Science, algorithmic complexity, and system architecture through a formal CS degree, competitive programming experience such as OI/ICPC, or an equivalent track record.
